Premium Ceramic Dinner Plates
Sizes in this range
The line runs four fired diameters: 20 cm at 380 to 430 g, 23 cm at 480 to 540 g, 27 cm at 620 to 700 g and 30 cm at 780 to 880 g. Well depth is 18 to 22 mm on the 27 cm, which holds a 220 g plated portion without the sauce running to the rim.
Ask for the fired number, not the mould. A 30 cm jigger mould lands at 26.4 to 27.0 cm after a 10 to 13 percent shrinkage, and that is the number that has to match your carton divider.
What premium actually means in a quote
Three things separate a premium plate from a cheap one at the same diameter: body density, glaze thickness and rim grinding. A dense body at 2.35 g per cubic centimetre chips less than a porous one at 2.05. Glaze at 0.28 to 0.35 mm survives 500 dishwasher cycles; below 0.2 mm it crazes within 18 months.
The rim is ground flat to 2.5 mm, which is the difference between a plate that stacks level on a buffet and one that rocks.
MOQ, samples and lead time
Minimum is 500 pieces per glaze, 1,000 for a custom mould. Samples take 7 to 10 days and cost 25 to 45 dollars per shape, refundable on the order. Production runs 25 to 30 days, then 30 to 38 days by sea.
Packing for restaurants
Twelve plates to an inner, four inners to a master of 48 at 0.048 cubic metres and 34 to 38 kg gross. A restaurant opening of 120 covers typically orders 240 to 360 pieces across three sizes, which is half a pallet and ships economically as LCL.
