Ceramic Mugs
Short answer: MOQ is 500 pieces per shape and colour, or 300 when a stock mould already exists. Samples take 7-15 days, production runs 25-35 days, and every order ships with FDA and LFGB test reports.
Browse 89 wholesale ceramic mug designs, ready for custom logo, glaze and packaging. As a ceramic mug manufacturer and OEM factory in China, we supply custom coffee mugs for importers, distributors and retail brands.
Ordering in volume? The unit price steps down at 500, 1,000 and 3,000 pieces per shape, because the mould, the glaze batch and the decal run are amortised over more units. Below 500 pieces we work from an existing mould; above 3,000 the decoration usually moves from decal to in-glaze printing, which cuts the per-unit cost and improves dishwasher resistance.
Packing follows the channel: bulk cartons for distributors, retail-ready boxes for shelf sales, and gift sets for corporate programmes. Production runs 25-35 days after sample approval; samples take 7-15 days. Every order ships with a food-contact test report for FDA and LFGB, plus carton dimensions and gross weight for freight quoting.

What a ceramic mug manufacturer actually controls
Four things sit inside the factory and decide what you can order. Body clay: stoneware at 1,180 to 1,220 degrees gives a 2.3 to 2.4 g per cubic centimetre body that resists chipping; porcelain at 1,300 to 1,320 degrees gives a thinner wall and a brighter white but chips more at the rim. Glaze: a dipped glaze at 0.25 to 0.35 mm survives 500 dishwasher cycles, a sprayed glaze at 0.15 mm crazes sooner. Decoration: in-glaze printing fuses under the glaze and outlasts a decal by years, but needs a minimum run. Handle application: hand-pulled versus moulded changes both the drop strength and the unit price.
What we hold on file for every shape
A fired sample, the glaze code, the body weight within a 20 g tolerance, the handle pull strength (a 5 kg static load for 60 seconds), and the carton dimensions with gross weight. Those five items are what makes a reorder arrive identical twelve months later, and they are what most factories cannot produce on request.
OEM and ODM, in plain terms
OEM means you bring the shape, the artwork and the packaging, and we manufacture to your specification. ODM means you choose from shapes we have already developed and adapt glaze, size, handle and branding. OEM needs a mould at 600 to 1,500 dollars and 20 to 25 days; ODM starts from a fired sample in 7 days. Both routes carry the same 500 piece minimum per shape and colour, and both include a pre-production sample, a mid-run inspection at AQL 2.5 and a final inspection before the container is sealed.
How to compare ceramic mug manufacturers
Ask four questions and the comparison settles itself: what is the fired capacity per week, what is the reject rate on decorated goods, will you retain a fired chip from my batch, and what does the carton weigh. A factory that answers all four in writing is quoting a product; one that answers only the unit price is quoting a guess.
