Why the Sample Stage Matters #
Ceramic is fired, not assembled. Unlike printed T-shirts or plastic goods, you cannot visually approve a digital mockup and expect an identical product. Glaze reacts to firing temperature, screen-printed ink sits differently on matte versus glossy surfaces, and mug weight varies with wall thickness. A physical sample is the only way to confirm all of these before committing to bulk production.
Types of Samples #
Photo or Video Sample — A digital confirmation of an existing product shape or a previously produced design. Usually free or low-cost, delivered within 1–2 days. Useful for verifying which stock shapes exist, not for approving a brand-new decoration.
Pre-Production Sample (PP Sample) — A physical mug made with your actual design, your chosen glaze, and the exact printing method planned for production. This is the sample that matters. Lead time is typically 7–15 days after artwork approval, and it represents your production quality benchmark.
